About
About
Jeremy Bunda is an emerging interdisciplinary artist melding together areas of painting, sculpture, and video/performance to construct dynamic installations that capture ideas of elasticity and exigency. His latest body of work, Gambal, is an exploration of queer mythology through a Filipino lens about shapeshifting, survival, and adaptation, built upon a hidden language. Mirroring both personal narratives and the material trajectory of natural rubber within Philippine ecology, the work is a meditation on assimilation, acclimation, and transformation in environments and thresholds of constraint.
Born and raised in the Philippines, Jeremy migrated to the United States with his family in 2013. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Irvine in 2020 and has since pivoted to pursue his love and passion for artmaking. He is obtaining his Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of North Texas and is currently based in Denton, TX. He has shown in local galleries around the area such as the Cora Stafford Gallery, the Paul Voertman Gallery, the Elm Fork Exhibit Hall, and more.
